Catch the action as some of the country’s best baristas demonstrate the art of making the perfect espresso drinks and compete for one of four Regional Barista Championship titles. The 2009 competitions begin in Toronto with the Central Regional Barista Championship on Sunday, July 19, 2009 at the Gladstone Hotel in Toronto. It is followed by the Eastern Regional Barista Championship in Montreal, August 23, 2009, Western Regional Barista Championship in Victoria on August 29, 2009 and Prairies Regional Barista Championship on September 12, 2009 in Calgary.

Each competitor must prepare and serve 12 separate espresso beverages: 4 espresso, 4 cappuccinos, and 4 "signature" drinks of their own creation. Competitors have only fifteen minutes to prepare all twelve drinks and are judged on various elements including station cleanliness, taste, beverage presentation, technical skills and total impression by a distinguished panel of judges.
